Good to see people tying together Columbus Day and US Imperialism. As I said at the Abolish Columbus Day event in Seattle, US Imperialism began with forts in Indian Country. We live in the heart of the empire and are captive Nations within the borders of it’s mother country. The war in Afghanistan is truly “fighting the Injuns in Afghanistan.” The home base of this Empire is the North American Continent. We Indigenous people were it’s first victims. It’s method of operation hasn’t changed much: militarily conquer a people, replace their institutions and social organizations with institutions and puppet governments that support the empire and will be complicit in theft of resources. Continue until the entire world is under the heel of the largest global empire this world has ever seen: The United States, controlled by the Federal Regime in Washington and it’s crony capitalist partners.
